"Against immunity of power", report on prosecution of war crimes

Press Release on War Crimes Comitted in Vukovar in the Summer of 1991.
The Youth Initiative for Human Rights (YIHR) submitted today to the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic of Croatia (Drzavno odvjetnistvo Republike Hrvatske – DORH) six transcripts of statements given by family members of the persons apprehended, executed or gone missing from the territory of Vukovar in 1991. These crimes, according to the statements given by our interlocutors, were committed between June and August 1991 and, according to the information obtained by some of them, they were committed by members of the National Guard Corps (Zbor narodne garde – ZNG) and the National Defence Secretariat in Vukovar.

Youth from Serbia and Croatia Pay Respects to Victims of War in Vukovar
By symbolically casting flowers from the pedestrian bridge into the Vuka River in Vukovar, some forty youths from Serbia and Croatia yesterday paid their respects to all the victims of war in Vukovar. The meeting of youth from Belgrade, Zagreb and Vukovar was organized by the Youth Initiative for Human Rights (YIHR).

Meeting of Serbian and Croatian Youth in Vukovar
Apropos the meeting between presidents of the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Serbia, Ivo Josipovic and Boris Tadic, set to take place in Vukovar on the 4th of November, 2010, the Youth Initiative for Human Rights' (YIHR) offices in Croatia and Serbia are organizing a meeting of youth from Zagreb and Belgrade in Vukovar. Youth from Zagreb and Belgrade are also to meet with young people from Vukovar.

YIHR put up a commemorative plaque to "Storm" victims
Apropos the fifteenth anniversary of the military-police operation “Storm” conducted by the Croatian Army (HV) and the Ministry of the Interior (MUP) forces, Youth Initiative for Human Rights in Croatia (YIHR) marked civilian suffering in this operation through financial support by the Government of the Republic of Croatia.

Joint Statement by Civil Society Organizations
June 15, 2010. To the Youth Initiative for Human Rights’ initiative, over 15 civil society organizations today issued a joint statement apropos live coverage of the concert "Za istinu" (For Truth) on HRT Channel One. The concert had a view to raising funds for the defense of indictees charged with war crimes before the Hague-based ICTY and local courts, who operated under the Croatian Army in the wars of the ‘90s.

Common statement - YIHR in Croatia and YIHR in Montenegro
Youth Initiative for Human Rights in Montenegro and Youth Initiative for Human Rights in Croatia express concern for the manner of conduction of cases for war crimes in Montenegro and Croatia. We believe that war crimes cases in Montenegro and Croatia were considerably conditioned by political circumstances and not enogh independent. This is reflected in preinvestigation and investigation phases of cases, preparation of indictments, conduction of trials and delivering judgments.
